100 Wonders - Radio Series and web portal

We present 100 of the most successful developments, inventions and innovations in Hungary today; some of them may be well-known throughout the world, but not many are aware that behind the success there is a Hungarian innovation. Each episode of the programme presents another innovation. We will also try to discover how the results were achieved and what the innovation went through from being an idea to the successful realization. Who can help and which factors may hinder Hungarian developers today? Our programme focuses on the motivations, the choices and the human factors, that is to say, the developer, the person, the inventor him/herself. 100 Wonders is an all-year programme series, with a radio series of 100 parts on Radio Q 99.5 and a related web portal. The innovations will later be presented in an exclusive television programme and an exhibition, as well. The cooperating partner and the venue of the exhibition: VAM Design. The programme series will be closed by a gala at the end of the year. The visitors of the web page can decide themselves which innovation should win the 100 Wonders Award.

Book that inspires

The development of creativity requires the same pragmatic and simple approaches as the development of any other skill: the results therefore also depend largely on everyday practice and perseverance as is the case with building fine muscles or learning a foreign language. HVG Kiadó wishes to provide the means for such endeavours. Readers are now given easy-to-read books that inspire, encourage action, and awaken and arouse the creative mind in readers. 8 books are planned to be released throughout 2009. In addition to book launch parties, the publisher will also start a blog to allow readers to have a say; planned activities also include running creative contests, involving readers in the creative process (cover design, creating titles), and getting celebrities to perform creative exercises.

Inventor of the month

The attention of elementary school students ought to be directed at inventing. In the "Inventor of the month" project, the best planned solution is selected from the submitted proposals for a problem situation selected by the students. Students submit their proposals with a motto and a 100-forint entry fee. The entry fee helps limit the number of proposals and encourages economical thinking. The awarded proposals must be implemented in practice before the award is actually granted. This is intended to encourage pragmatic approaches and ensure that system of awarding grants remains realistic.
