“Integrationsservice” - ITS

Municipal integration activities in Denmark have had varied success rates. The “Integrationsservice” (ITS) was established in 2005 to support the improvement of integration activities. Better results in integration activities can be achieved through better coordination between relevant actors, improved
knowledge about good integration practices and about what tools are most effective. ITS assists municipalities in integration issues by providing service desk functions, customised consultancy services, cross cutting activities (conferences and courses), project implementation support, network
activities, and dissemination of best practices.

Online Homework Help

Online Homework Help provides a technical platform for online communication between voluntary helpers and children in need of homework assistance. The project will make it possible for youngsters to receive homework help through their home computer. This is an attractive option to youth who have stopped using regular homework assistance programs at the local library or in after-school programmes. Besides serving an important purpose in the general education of school children, the project also plays an important role in the integration of immigrants and refugees into Danish society. In many instances, youth with immigrant backgrounds are not able to receive sufficient homework help from their parents, and thus rely on assistance from voluntary homework helpers. The Online Homework Help programme provides an attractive solution and presents an innovative approach to reaching a target group which is otherwise difficult to reach.
