YOUTH

Stairway to change – An intercultural youth project

The project wants to help marginalized young people in an artistic way to get a voice to express themselves and exchange their opinions, feelings and visions about the current cultural, religious and societal situation in their countries. The way to express and exchange will be through making a documentary film. The basis for the documentary will be specific questions developed by the project steering group that the young people have to answer by means of interview, re-enacting, or another creative way. Among project coordinators one young person from each country will join this conference to present the documentary. The project will have its own website and an interactive blog forum where young people will exchange their ideas. The website is accessible to youth organizations and groups worldwide.

This project contributes to creativity since the final product foreseen is one documentary film the young people from all partner countries collaborated on and a workbook documenting the process. In an initial training, project coordinators from each organization will meet in New York, exchange knowledge and develop a program for marginalized young people including topics such as project development, filmmaking, group dynamics, conflict resolution, and basic drama work. Then they start the creative process in their countries with a group of 25 young people. A final conference in Ghana will show the project results.

Participants are encouraged to express themselves in a creative way. They are asked to create clothes and jewellery that reflect their country's cultural traditions and style. The Strings of our Tradition. Youth Exchange for Young Musicians

The aim of this project is to explore cultural diversity through music. Young musicians from different countries will use rock music as a medium and methodology for intercultural learning. This youth exchange provides a multicultural environment in which the young participants can explore the richness of music, tradition and cultures of different nations and offers them an opportunity to change ideas.
The participants explore traditional music from the countries involved. They will create modern rock versions of old traditional folk songs and by doing so they will compose songs for a CD. This CD will be produced in a large number of copies and will be distributed to young people from the local community.

Everybody, move your feet and feel united!!!

The aim of this youth exchange is to explore cultural differences and similarities and to share cultural experiences through folkdancing. The organisers of this project want to strengthen cultural tolerance among young people as well as their feeling of being European citizens. Besides folk dancing they also plan excursions, sport activities and open discussions to obtain the desired results. The participants will teach each other different folk dances. The activities end with a spectacle for the local community during which the participants perform the dances that they have learned.
