VOCATIONAL TRAINING - LEONARDO

Guidance and Counselling for Self-employment

The project turned out to be a very interesting experience in terms of research on self-employment. As it turns out, the phenomenon itself is well defined, but it does not function on a formal basis and is not distinguished as a separate category according to the SME definition (under which the self-employed are included in the microenterprises group). Therefore it is very rare that institutions offering training, counselling and support services for businessmen perceive the self-employed as a separate group of clients who have somewhat different needs than businessmen who are employers. It is even difficult to precisely determine the scale of this phenomenon in the individual countries (the number of one-person companies), because it is not a group which would be the object of systematic research, or even public statistics. The results: 2.1 Desk study report on State of the art of Self-Employment iin partner countries and in each partner country; SWOT analysis (Specific career counseling and guidance services addressed to people considering self-employment at partners’ countries); database, Summary report of the WP2: Report concerning identified strengths and weaknesses of existing guidance and career counselling services included in selfemployment in Finland, Poland, Romania and Austria.

mobile Performance Support System for Vocational Education and Training

Mobile devices are popular and well used by many people within our target groups, but not for learning. The project is going to develop and test a performance-centered Mobile Learning Model (PML Model) to be used for the mobile devices by applying performance centred approach methodology. The advantages for trainees are derived from providing learners with a job aid in the context of their work by combining training and performance support where the actual work takes place. Students would benefit from flexibility and choice in where and when they learn outside of the wired (or un-wired) classroom. Students will use the technology in their study that would enhance their readiness for tomorrow’s workplace where employers want graduates who know how to use technology for learning and working.
