On 16th May 2009, the Joint Research Centre in Ispra will open its doors to the public to coincide with the celebration of 50 years of the JRC Ispra site. The day's programme will include visits to scientific laboratories with practical demonstrations and interactive experiments to give a first-hand experience of state-of-the-art science. There will also be lively presentations, shows and entertainment for all age groups. For kids, a special programme will include games and quizzes about science. Finally, to mark the Open Day, a competition for all schools in Italy has been launched, and the prize-giving ceremony will take place at the site on the day.
