In Europe today, technology development and societal acceptance do not always go hand in hand. This can delay or even prevent society benefitting from new opportunities and prosperity created by the demand for innovation.

Industry and the whole society have to develop common tools to bridge the gap, in the most sustainable and responsible way - because there is no competitiveness in the EU economy without fostering innovation in chemistry.

In the last ten years, the Lont-Range Research Initiative (LRI) programme has funded 120 research projects, involving more than 300 scientists in more than 50 universities and institutes across Europe. The LRI annual event will highlight how LRI plays a positive role in innovation and consumer confidence.
