The E-magiciens / European Meeting of the Young Digital Creation, directed by Marie-Anne Fontenier and organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Valenciennes region is a European festival dedicated to the students, teachers and professionals of digital creation. Three days of meetings, exchanges, projections, testimonies, experiments. Round tables, conferences, run by professionals, artists, technicians of the digital field. Short-films and interactive work done by the students are presented during the whole event. Some of them will gain awards and be congratulated by the jury. The student authors are there to present their work. In this way, they are able to meet experienced artists, whose work is also screened or exhibited.
The LAB exhibition offers an area for developers and creators to discover and experiment new tools in the digital field.
Over three days, the students move around the rooms and the passageways of the huge Le Phenix theatre .
Chained Animation, “exquisite corpse” produced by 13 teams of European students. The students begin work the day before the opening of the festival. They have 3 days to put together a 10-second digital animation, with an imposed image chosen by the guest artist, at the beginning and at the end of the production. The festival organizers put at their disposal computers equipped with software (2D, 3D, compositing, editing...) at Le Phenix theatre. On the last day, the festival team edits the 12 sound animations and credits. Each team and composer will present their work on Friday morning. The public and the participants will discover the complete work during the closing party.
The Web jam, collective work done by 7 teams of 3 students specialized in multimedia, at Le Phenix theatre. Each team is composed of a graphic designer, a data-processing programmer and a musician. Over 3 days each team produces an interactive work on a topic revealed on site on the 1st day of the demonstration (in collaboration with Les Gobelins, the School of the Image).
The “Box of Tricks” (TV set with real-time superimposition), prepared by Laurent DESOMBRE and the students of the Valenciennes and Hainaut-Cambrésis University.
