European eGovernment Awards 2009

The European eGovernment Awards 2009 ceremony will be held in the 5th Ministerial eGovernment Conference where the most innovative good practiceswill be presented and awarded.


The European eGovernment Awards are organised every two years. The aim is to identify and select good practices in the use of ICT in public services and highlight the benefits of ICT to society, including improved quality of life of citizens; increased public trust in government, and increased competitiveness of European enterprises.
The awards stimulate innovation and shared learning by identifying and promoting good practices. The focus of the European eGovernment Awards is in line with the strategic goals of the i2010 - A European Information Society for Growth and Employment and other European Commission initiatives for the development of an information society for all. The awards also support the ePractice.eu good practice exchange initiative.

The winners and the most outstanding eGovernment solutions will be presented at the fifth Ministerial eGovernment Conference 2009 on 19 November in Malmö, Sweden. All public administrations in Europe (national, regional, local, etc.) that deliver eGovernment services and solutions can apply. Submissions from EU Member States, candidate countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland will be accepted. Applications must be in current use and supported by a public sector actor.
There will be four categories for the European eGovernment Awards 2009. The awards categories are in line with the European Union’s strategic policy framework and reflect the priorities of the fifth Ministerial eGovernment Conference:
(1) eGovernment supporting the single market,
(2a) eGovernment empowering citizens,
(2b) eGovernment empowering businesses, and
(3) eGovernment enabling administrative efficiency and effectiveness.
The call closes on 10 June 2009 at 16:00 CET.
