Europe needs to increase its capacity for creativity and innovation for both social and economic reasons. Therefore, 2009 has been declared as the European Year of Creativty and Innovation, EYCI. The main objective is to promote creativity and innovation as tools for personal development and thus strengthening European competitiveness. This will help us to meet the challenges facing Europe. The closing conference will be held in Stockholm under the auspices of the Swedish presidency of the EU and will highlight good examples of what has happened during the year as well as offering a meeting place for policy makers. The outcome aims to promote a continued and strengthened work with creativity and innovation in Europe with different sectors and beyond traditional sector boundaries at different levels of decision making.
